The Operations Department conducts trial runs for each project to study routes, traffic, and travel time. Drivers use vehicles during these runs to get familiar with locations before the project begins.
Risk assessments are conducted for every project to control hazards to the maximum extent. Drivers are educated on hazards and their control through these assessments.
All vehicles have a Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) and, where required, speed governors. Drivers must also activate the iButton system to identify themselves and the vehicle before starting the journey.
The root causes are regularly studied, and appropriate engineering controls are applied to eliminate them. Where possible, administrative controls are also utilized.
An alcohol testing system with random checks at camps, sites, and pick-up/drop-off points helps prevent drunk driving. QHSE also conducts surprise night visits using breathalyzers.
Fire extinguishers are regularly maintained, and vehicles are inspected by coordinators and QHSE officers. All issues are recorded, with corrective actions taken within 24 hours.
